BLACKFIVE: How the rescue happened

http://www.blackfive.net/main/2009/04/how-the-rescue-happened.html

This was not a rescue attempt ordered by National Command Authority i.e. the President. It was a reaction by the on scene commander under standard authority to safeguard the life of a hostage.

The AP is reporting that President Obama gave the order to use military force to rescue the hostage, that is misleading.

I don't think it's necessary to take credit away from the President.  He reacted to a crisis by authorizing unilateral military action, while using the pretense of negotiations to distract the enemy.  That sets a good precedent in my opinion.

Notice that we didn't have UN authorization or some sort of multilateral agreement.  We just went in and killed the bad guys and got our people out.

Sounds like a good movie Bruce Willis movie to me.
